casa alla scogliera

project of a single family villa on the sea

2017

Acicastello _ CT

The project concerns the renovation of an old warehouse that is converted into a residence. The architectural concept takes the forms of the old building and composes them in two superimposed blocks, almost as if they were simply resting on each other, one totally open to the outside and less private, and the second, the upper one, the more protected, the first container of the living area, of the sleeping area the second. The new building reinterprets the colors of the surroundings: the dark lava stone is reproduced in its colors through the use of carbonized wood strips, an ancient Japanese technique that preserves the wood over time and that in this case allows the composition to approach harmoniously the shades of the place.
