DS Apartments is a project to transform a building in the historic centre of Catania.
The project is spread over two levels, the ground floor and the mezzanine.
The internal layout enhances the verticality and existing heights, with all spaces exploited to their full potential. The living areas on the ground floor open onto the street and the urban fabric, while the mezzanine houses the sleeping area, whose privacy is guaranteed by the presence of a dividing element. The presence of double spaces and internal views allows natural light to penetrate deeply, shaping the volumes and creating dynamic perceptions in the space.
The project creates a dialogue between traditional finishes and contemporary details. The materials chosen, including wood and natural plaster, coexist with steel and glass in the lightweight partitions, creating an atmosphere that is both urban and domestic.
