renovation of an ancient farmhouse in the Etna wine zone
This project involves the regeneration of an existing building, reinterpreted as an accommodation facility that successfully blends heritage with contemporary design. The project is based on a measured approach, aimed at preserving the identity of the original architecture whilst introducing new spaces that blend seamlessly with their surroundings.
The existing volumes are enhanced and reorganised through a fluid sequence of spaces, in which bedrooms, communal areas and social spaces unfold in close relationship with the outdoors.
The landscape becomes an integral part of the project: the openings frame the vineyards and the silhouette of Mount Etna, whilst courtyards and pathways establish a direct relationship between architecture and the local landscape.
The project stands out for its minimalist and material-focused approach, where materials and finishes evoke local building traditions without resorting to imitations. The surfaces, treated with restraint, help to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, consistent with the rural character of the site
